Action – Reaction

UsMenTalkBy UsMenTalkMarch 9, 20208 Minutes

So how many of you believe that for every one of our actions, at some point in time, and for some purpose, there is a reaction to be experienced?
As a young kid growing up, I almost never thought about a “future reaction” to a current action of mine, unless of course it could be life threatening. I just “did”, and whatever was, was! If the reaction was immediate, I then equated it to my previous action. But if not, I never tied life’s future experiences to yesterday’s behaviors.
But today it’s a different story. I can clearly see how the universe captures, records, realigns and then returns to me my results, good and bad, of my actions. I also noticed that there may not be any correlation between the action and its reaction in terms of time and result. In fact, sometimes the reactions we experience are given to us many years later. As for me, right now I am going through some tough times because of behaviors and decisions I made back in 2006.
Especially today, with the speed of technology and information being so quickly available, one must take a few seconds to think about the future experiences of a current action. From what we post, tweet, Instagram, or Snapchat about, to how we act or react to any given situation, can have/produce great results, or devastating results. Every day I try to do or say one small positive thing that somebody can benefit from. Whether its advice or compliment, or just plain appreciation and recognition, a small gesture like these does worlds of good for everyone.
Knowing that we all want great things to happen for us in life, here’s a good idea to do right now. Since you’re already spending a few minutes reading this article, add on a few more minutes and reflect how your actions, past and present, have produced what type of reactions. Are you in a good groove? Check the “why” of your behavior and actions. What were you really trying to say, show, or accomplish? Doing this BEFORE you act can really make a difference in the outcome.
So let’s say that at this very moment in time you’re ready to make big things happen in your life. Here’s an inspiring acronym to follow. It’s called T-H-O-U-G-H-T-F-U-L A-C-T-I-O-N. A-C-T-I-O-N, did you know that if you feel good about yourself you produce good results, and visa versa? Did you also know that our thoughts lead to words, our words lead to behaviors, those behaviors lead to habits, our habits form our character, and our character determines our outcomes? Don’t wish you could go back in time and have made another choice. Start today by giving your actions a few seconds of forethought.
Next, start incorporating a couple of new and positive behaviors into your life. Not only will it bring you more happiness but it will also keep you from making “not so good” decisions. Why? Because habits become impulsive and good habits are good things!
Once you begin, keep moving forward. You know the mantra… “Inch by inch everything is a cinch”. You also know that by moving forward in a positive way you will increase your chances of stumbling into other good opportunities and behaviors. It’s hard to stumble into anything while sitting down, right?
By now, many of you are thinking that it might not be a bad idea to make some changes. There’s more good news. Change is pretty easy when I tell you the following about yourself.
You are an EXPERT at change and even changing your actions to more positive ones means even greater outcomes/reactions. Just think, you can change clothes, restaurants, cars, opinions, schools, jobs, careers, friends, directions, houses, we even change spouses quite often too. See how easy it is to make changes?
Let me leave you with these 26 statements I read in a book a while back. Following them can help make todays actions produce incredible reactions for us in the future.
